Lik House, Tokyo, Japan by Satoru Hirota

Satoru Hirota architects have completed the ‘Lik House’, a single family dwelling within a residential area
of the business district in Tokyo, Japan. Lik House aspires to be a place of comfortable intimacy, says Satoru Hirota.
Three blocks, laid on the plot with angled trajectories, generate an irregular outdoor space that acts as a private square. The courtyard – a place for both physical and visual interaction – projects the interior into the surroundings.

People moving from one room to another feel as if they’re crossing transitional spaces. Dynamic, slender passages are only arrested by intermittent box-like elements in the interior. Despite its remarkably narrow interior, large openings give the house a sense of openness and transparency and introduce a continuous play of light and shadows.

‘Portrait of the Ghost Drummer,’ Music Choreography by Odaibe
In the video, the movement of a pair of drumsticks is recorded via motion sensors, and visualized in the form of an evanescent, arcing path. The format allows for kinetic patterns to emerge and fade away, evolving in three dimensions as the drummer’s performance unfolds.
Polish artist Odaibe created Portrait of the Ghost Drummer to explore the graphic qualities involved in playing on a drum kit. “Besides being a musician, a drummer when playing is unconsciously engaged in an elaborate choreography,” explains Odaibe. “The drum sticks are the extensions of drummer’s hands like a brush is an extension of the painter’s hand.”

Buzzihood by Alain Gilles for Buzzispace
This project designed by Alain Gilles for Buzzispace, is all about personal privacy and well-being. It is about being able to quickly protect yourself from the surrounding world, from a wild bunch of kids playing in your loft, to a host of colleges sharing the same open space office, to make some private calls.

The idea is to feel protect, but not isolated. You regain that too-often-lost privacy associated with the use of mobile phones but you never the less remain in touch with those surrounding you. You do not have to share your private conversations with everyone else and then again in some case you also do not “bother” everyone while on the phone. The concept is of course also reminiscent of those now fast-despairing open phone booth that use to be a common site in our cities, airports and hotel lobbies.

It has been designed in order to be very graphic and architectural. A colorful and lively piece that can bring warmth and personality to an office or trendy loft.
It is made out of recycled fabric, and is available in several colors, including: pink, lime, orange, grey, black and white and in some cases, it can also be customized. There is also the possibility to add-on a special little tablet so one can easily take notes or write down a number while making a phone call.
