It’s probably the best thing to happen to television since the remote.
Oddball Object Circles Sun Beyond Neptune

A distant object named Buffy has been spotted circling the sun far beyond Neptune in a strange tilted orbit that is making some astronomers question how the outer reaches of the solar system formed.
Officially called 2004 XR 190 by the International Astronomical Union but code-named Buffy, the object is now about 58 times as far from the sun as Earth, and twice as far from the sun as Neptune.
At this distance from the heart of the planetary system, Buffy is considered a Kuiper Belt object, but an odd one, astronomers working in Canada, France and the United States said in a statement on Tuesday.
DNA 11

Takes a sample of DNA and turns it into something suitable for framing. The image of your DNA is printed on canvas using the giclee method. The process begins with putting your saliva into a tube. It is then sent to a lab for extraction to create a genetic fingerprint that is stained with a fluorescent dye and illuminated by UV light. A special camera captures the image which is then digitally enhanced, cropped, color adjusted, adding colors and filter effects. The pieces can be ordered in three sizes and a variety of hues.

The Harper Sofa

Publishers Domeau & Peres are currently producing a limited series of furniture created for the famous French movie Mon Oncle by Jacques Tati made in 1958. The “Harper” sofa is inspired by Mallet Stevens and is reproduced with extreme fidelity to the original. It’s an ironic blast from the past because for Tati, the modern house from Mon Oncle was actually criticism of ultra-design and overconsumption.

Since then Helena has worked for many titles such as Italian and French Vogue.
Now, she will presenting her photographies in Paris. But this time, she will be on the other side of the camera. She will exhibit about sixty photos which, according to her, express all the contradiction of life.

The Lumen Tree by Adam Frank is an oil lamp which projects the shadow of a metal tree on the wall. As the flame flickers, the shadow moves around organically. The tree is made of stainless steel and polyethylene. It’ s a bit like having a virtual Christmas tree in your room. It’s ok for us as long as the X-mas gifts are for real.
Quanta Announces $100 Laptops

The world’s largest manufacturer of laptop PC’s, Taiwan’s Quanta, will manufacture an ultra-low-cost laptop developed by Nicolas Negroponte, the chairman of Massachusetts Institute of technology’s Media Lab. Barry Lam, Quanta founder and chairman, said:
“Quanta would like to contribute its industry-leading laptop technologies to the future success of the project, in hope of affording children worldwide with opportunities not only to close the ‘digital divide,’ but also to bridge the ‘knowledge divide.’ This project signifies a new stage and scale for the laptop industry by including those children never before considered to be laptop users.”
The laptops will be sold to governments and issued to children by schools on a basis of one laptop per child.

Hundreds Of Auroras Detected On Mars

University of California-Berkeley physicists say auroras similar to Earth’s Northern lights are apparently commonplace on Mars.The physicists said the auroras on Mars aren’t due to a planet-wide magnetic field, but to patches of strong magnetic field in the planet’s crust, mostly in southern areas.The discovery of auroras on Mars teaches something about how and why they happen elsewhere in the solar system, including on Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
