The New Glass Pavilion at the Toledo Museum of Art

The Toledo Museum of Art’s remarkable new Glass Pavilion is the first American project by architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa and their Tokyo firm, SANAA. The enormous sheets of glass needed for the pavilion were manufactured in Germany and molded in China in preparation for the Aug. 27 opening.

Composed with exquisite delicacy, the pavilion is an elegant maze of curved glass walls, with its grand staircase leading up to a row of ionic columns, the original museum is a temple to art and a monument to of high culture.
