Lateira by Rui Pereira

In honour to that delicious Portuguese Sardine, Rui Pereira has designed this ceramic.
Sardine conservation factories are an important part in the history of Matosinhos, a seaside town near Oporto, in the north of Portugal. Despite their reduced number nowadays, they have been linked to this city for more than a century. Lateira´s goal is to pay a tribute to this nearly extinct industry, by transforming a simple sardine-based meal into a luxurious banquet. Its shape is inspired in the floral pattern of the fisherman´s wives bandanas. It is made of white porcelain along with gold ink and has a glassy finishing.
Zio furnace by Helix-Akantus Formgestaltung GmbH & Co. KG, Münste

The design of the Zio furnace presents fire in all its elegance while combining it with climate technology intelligence. The large humidifier that is available as an accessory creates a pleasant climate in the room during its use. The black cylindrical body of the furnace fits organically into many room concepts. All operating levers are concealed in the body. Its ability to rotate allows Zio to be adjusted to the desired viewing perspective.
Octopus Chandelier

“Estremo Raggio di Morena” is an octopus-shaped chandelier that was designed by Adam Wallacavage. It is available for you to buy at Jonathan Levine Gallery. It’s nice and all, but it costs a whopping $8,500. Ouch! At that price, I’d rather go catch a real octopus and hang it on the ceiling.
Luxus by Christian Flindt

Luxus with lights is the interaction of movement and visual perception. The light in the chair is activated directly by the rocking of the chair as if it was full of light water. The swinging directly affects the movement of the chair’s lights.
Visual Echo by Jason Bruges Studio

This interactive light installation acts as a meandering ribbon of light by remembering the colors visitors wear. While also recording the rhythm and frequency of visitors, the ribbon transforms the viewer’s perception of space. Using cutting edge LED tiles, this work by Jason Bruges Studio demonstrates exciting new potentials and questions how light, space and color can interrelate in architectural space.
Exhibition on view from January 12 to March 10, 2007 at the Gerald D. Hines Gallery.
Python Tape by Atypyk

French designers at Atypyk have created a 60 meters-long wrap tape dubbed Python. It happens to look like the deadly snake, so be careful not to scare the hell out of your entourage when you apply it.
Ho&Ho Hotel Suite

The Ho&Ho hotel suite, located in Italy, proposes a low-tech environment that remains chic and fresh. The lounge living and sleeping places are each clearly defined, yet coexist in one room that can also open up into a gallery walk or be transformed into a two-bedroom suite by introducing a sliding wall. The neutrality of the design fits the ultimately modular concept and thus the Ho&Ho suite can be implemented singularly or many times over in various locations.
