Hotel Insomnia by Jan Melis for VHP

Metaphor and functionalism cross each other in this investigation into the potential of the Oude Timmerfabriek situated in the Vlissingen harbor area.

The former Timmerfabriek on the KSG terrain in Vlissingen is a potential location for a hotel following the masterplan of Rotterdam based architects VHP. Motel Insomnia investigates the potential of this monumental building and its surroundings as a cultural hotspot. Studio Jan Melis is commissioned to make an exterior as well as interior design. Motel Insomnia will open its doors in February 2007.
