Mika Ninagawa

The artist director and photographer Mika Ninagawa was born in 1972. She belongs to the new breed of Japanese women artists, like Hiromix or Rinko Kawauchi. Represented by the famous galleries Yoshitomo Nara and Tomio Koyama , she is one of the contemporary artists that you can’t afford to miss in Japan.

She took part in a retrospective of the Japanese photography in 2003 in Austria with Tomoko Sawada, Keiz Kitajima and Risaku Suzuki. Mika Ninagawa is a kind of small icon kawaï, daughter of the one of the largest Japanese director, Yukio Ninagawa. Recognized for her talent of photographer, we adore her high imagery colors all in cheerfulness, her taste of the acidulated colors, poetry in the large plans of flowers but also in her portraits of mode and “people” like those of the Hilton sisters or the mythical artist Yayoi Kusama.

Mika does not stop with the photograph. She connects publicities, video clips and she ‘s also just came out with her 1st film entitled “Sakuran”, presented at the last festival of Berlin.
Artist inspired, she is also a muse inspiring. At the time of the last Celine’s fashion show, in March for collection A/H 07, the fashion designer Ivana Omazic in particular one of her “flowers” prints on dresses and other main pieces of the
collection.

Colette will present this collection in preview and exclusiveness from April 2, and also the bag designed by Mika and Ivana, in limited edition, from April 16.
All the books of Mika Ninagawa, more than 20 publications, will be available at Colette, like her last works “Everlasting Flowers” and “Sakuran”.
