What a waste of space and money. I bet he won’t use half of the rooms in that building. I don’t mind successful people living in big houses, but this is just a big phallic symbol. It’s a way of saying “hey look everybody, I’m richer than you!”

There are many people who worked their asses off and earned their wealth, but when one person can afford to build this as a private residence, you know that they’re making more money than they’re earning.

It pains me to see people criticize Mr. Ambani on the account of display of wealth. For long, India has considered display of wealth as a sin, but this is plain stupidity. We are not a communist nation and every citizen is entitled to the right to property. Charity is one’s discretion, (this might sound harsh) I am absolutely in no way obliged to save starving people… Though benevolent acts are definitely appreciated, it cannot be imposed upon, this is not justified even on ethical grounds.

I would like to stress on the fact that there is nothing wrong in adopting a hedonistic approach to life, it’s a matter of choice. As long as Ambani owns the money he does, inherited or otherwise, he has every right to throw it down the drain or pile it up in a heap and light it up. After all, its a short life, and if you’re blessed, you might as well optimally maximize your pleasure rather than giving a shit about the rest of the world.

This is a fabulous house and lets look at it this way… this is the most expensive house in the world and it is in india, which should give us more pride housing it here than elsewhere in the world in a private island ( Mr.Ambani has that money and he could have done that there…. with the pride and glory going to that country) and the Ambani empire employs thousands of people and many beautiful homes have been built by their employee’s beacuse of his companies profits…. And we really do not know that what he does for charity since many would like to have a low publicity and might be doing a lot… so lets start critisizing ! and start appreciating…. I am not part of reliance or do i know them but i wanted to express this as i find those remarks only in india, in all other countries people take pride….

So many people on the site are cursing Mukesh for building this house…. They all suggest that he should have given this amount to charity for the poor.

I would like to ask one question: Have you ever thought about why the so called POOR people are really POOR?

The answer is because MOST of them doesnt like to work! Why does a begger have 6 children when in reality he cant even afford to have one! Why does in slums you find TV, Cooler, Fridge, Double Beds, DVD Players etc. but you will never find any one sending their children to school. If they can afford all these materialistic stuff cant they afford to educate their children?

Try to give a poor guy a job and u’ll see the result…. They either wont turn up on time everyday… If they do they ‘ll give excuses for doing less work that day… If you provide them with a bonus they wont turn up next day… u know y… b’coz they’ll be boozing around!

They will ask you for charity and donation but what do they do with the amount? They dont send their children to school, they dont provide them with nutritious food, they wont invest in making a proper home for themselves, they wont buy decent clothes and maintain them. They will simply gamble with the amount or invest in drugs or liquirs, ‘ll even invest in luxurios thing but not in necessary stuff!!!

Again I am not saying that ALL are like that!

Some people do work and they know how to come over proverty line. They study on their own, they find

a decent work. They do proper savings, they invest in necessities rather than luxuries. They really work hard and get themselves a proper living! Example of these kind of people are available around the world. Almost two-thirds of the world’s 946 billionaires made their fortunes from scratch, relying on grit and determination, and not good genes.To name a few: Microsoft’s Bill Gates, media maven Oprah Winfrey, Russia’s richest man, Roman Abramovich, Apple’s iconic Steve Jobs, Ralph Lauren, Asia’s richest man, Li Ka-shing, Sheldon Adelson, J.K. Rowling, Oracle’s Larry Ellison and many more… To name few from India: Ram Chandra Agarwal (CMD, Vishal Retail), Shantanu Prakash (MD, Educomp Solutions), N R Narayana Murthy, Sarathbabu and not to forget the father of so badly criticised Mukesh Ambani, Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani!

So why all the fuzz for poors and donations???

Let me assure you.. The Ambani’s including their father, are all thieves and immoral Indians. Gandhi lived in a cloth around his body. Look at what these people are doing. It’s poitless to discuss people that are so uncarring as the Ambani’s. They will never ever get respect from the likes of me what sos ever. They only care about themselves, greedy people. Lacking in courage to help anybody else. Look at what Bill gates is doing with his wealth and look at what these idiots are doing with theirs. Sad, but we all live and die on this earth and all join the dust we were born from, in the end, we are all alike except some greedier than others. AKA Ambani’s the whole lot of them. I sincerely hope they make change to helping the poor in India. If you want to be proud of the rich in India, look at the TATA’s. Now they are the shinning light of great Indians. Period. And by the way, Dhirubhai robbed the Tata’s to get somewhere in life. he was a cheat of the first order, everybody knows that.

Mumbai needs some bragging rights – claiming to have Asia’s largest slum or recurrent communal violence is nothing to brag about. India needs more jobs and tourism has great potential to provide those jobs – more hotels will be booked, more attractions will be created, and more people will be employed. If Mumbai can create the world’s most expensive residential building so be it.

Gluttony, greed, the desire to look down at people: what inspires someone to think that are above everyone else? Probably the fact that they have been so out of touch with reality their entire lives – they don’t know any better. This Ambani family made its fortunes in the petrochemical industry – the same one that’s currently destroying the environment and causing global warming causing insecurity for all. This house “Antilla” featured with other “most expensive homes” in the Wellington daily newspaper on Friday March 19th 2010. I was impressed and it appealed to my own thoughts of building a partly underground skyscraper on my residential hilltop section in Wgtn NZ.
The other homes in the Dominion Post article written by Aleeza Khan, were all vulgar in their own particular way too.
Other comentators to this page are right about poor, homeless and starving multitudes in India and the rest world, however this contrast has always been there. If this rich man Mukesh Ambani had not grown his father’s business then his employees would not have shared in the growth. His personal billions are a proportionately small slice of the cake when compared to the whole cake.
Many billions must be generated from the family company and when in business, profit is king, they sole reson for being in business. More benevolent enterprises are for charity or social developement or clubs. The head of one of those should never live like Ambani unless they are him.
If, as suggested up-page by ANGEL in 2009, Ambani give away the value of the home ($2 billion) then half the poor in china and India would get $1 each. That wouldn’t go far. Angel might prefer one billion people to get $2 instead or some other ratio of the hand-out, depending on how Angel “feels” at the time.

Anthony i live in a multi-million dollar house but i am not a snob. My family gives a lot of money to charity each and every year. You can’t judge people by what one person does. THOSE ARE CALLED STEREOTYPES. Before you start judging people with a lot of money, get to know them first or do more research. And how do you not know Mr. Ambani does not give to charities. And don’t tell people like him and me to burn in hell, that is horrible.

Well’s it’s his money he can decide what ever he want’s to do with it but as people says it’s better to donate to charity than to build such a building that looks so easily collapsible becuase natural disasters cannot be avoided ….Save the animals and stop the killing or just fund into research for better crops and help the farmers giving u your rice dammit,it’s such a waste on the earth’s scarce land resource,if youre so great,why not build a big house for the homeless? seriously you have really let down religion…but in the reasoning in hindu i belive they said if a person is born as a beggar it is because they lived a life that harmed others or is rich but did not donate,well? judge yourself

Meanwhile, thousands of children in India live in EXTREME poverty while this sorry excuse for a human being lives in pure decadence. I dont care how he earned it, you cant waste the earths resources like this and expect respect, its a sin to live like this. And this goes to all people who live in multi-million dolllar homes, you suck and I hope you burn in HELL because there are children out there who will spend their entire lives suffering yet you think its ok to use more than your share of the earths resources.
