Dental clinic and dentist’s residence by Hiroki Tanabe

Located in the suburbs of Nagano, Japan, this project is designed by Hiroki Tanabe. Each volume has different functions inside: residence, clinic and waiting lounge and are separated by a glass  that acts as a transitional zone between the various functions. This box gives occupants the impression of moving outside of the building.

Tanabe created a folding ‘zig-zag’ roof-wall-floor plane out of 300mm thick reinforced concrete, which combines the two functions of the building; home and dentist’s office while separates them volumetrically.
