UP! house 1200 & 1500 by Konyk Architecture

UP! house created by Konyk Architecture puts a new spin on the idea of prefabricated housing. Originally commissioned for Dwell magazine’s “dwell home invitational” in April 2003, the up! house has evolved into an ongoing investigation into the morphology and ideology of prefab dwellings.

UP! house 1200
The UP! house is an investigation into a prefabricated architecture that borrows from the world of industrial design, specifically automotive design and production techniques. With options ranging from power windows to home theater entertainment packages, the UP!house is an attempt to make the purchase of the single family house more akin to that of the latest model Jetta.

The designs utilize steel “uni-body” frames, structural panels and lots of insulated glass to form super-modern, sleek living spaces. The homes are fabricated and delivered fully equipped with high-end appliances, fixtures and mechanicals.
