Guerilla Gardening In Tokyo
Here are some great photos of guerilla gardening in Tokyo. Kikrainet says:
Look at the girl in the picture, she is planting some tomatoes in little corner between two roads in the middle of Tokyo. Isn’t it amazing? She cares about that little place of land lost in Tokyo’s immensity, and what is more amazing is that she doesn’t seem worried about people or dogs destroying her tomatoes and her lavender.
As industries and landscape continue to expand, I’m sure this will soon become a necessity, not only in Japan, but all over the industrialized world. Let’s hope that the vehicle fumes, asbestos from brakes, and stray lubricant don’t give the tomatoes a bad taste.

It is a good idea, our citys need the nature things .And if the more people take part in this activity, the more beauty the citys will.

Hi,
For years that is forbiden for braking pads t ohave asbestos
If it’s still used or not, that’s another question.
I find the initiative a good idea, but would have to be made in spaces not subjected to polution, like buildings incorporating green areas for agriculture and pasture.
I already saw a project like that.
Kind regards,
José

Nice article.
This is kind of irrelevant, but what is your favorite soil conditioning fertilizer? I’ve tried Pro-Gro on my veggie garden, but I don’t like the results. Anyone have suggestions?

I also practice guerilla gardening in Tokyo and it’s nice because my neighbours and even the local council seems to appreciate it. One time even the road workers weeded out the garden (which is under a highway) , the best thing is that I’ve planted some mint and a mini eucalyptus type thing and when the cars swoosh by all you get is a breeze of mint and eucalyptus! It’s really exciting seeing an abandoned plot of land being cared for by the community again, I really recommend everyone to try to restore a bit of rough land in their city!
