Yes, I would hit my head on the ceiling above the first few steps that are mounted to the wall. Also, i’d end up tripping because my foot would find it’s way to the space left in the middle of each step.

I bet they are cantilevered, with more of the tread extending through the wall, or possibly welded to a steel support, then plastered behind to disguise the structure.

This is a nice pice of art. Looking at this only view of these stairs I would say it’s only art and not functional stairs.
