The Surfhouse, Hermosa Beach by XTEN Architecture

The Surfhouse by XTEN based in Pacific Ocean in Hermosa Beach is designed like an abstract block of weathered wood.

The site is very small. While typical lots in the area measure 120’ x 40’, the allowable building area for the Surfhouse measures just 33’ x 24’.

The architects approached the project by subtracting the larger program areas from a solid volumetric form that conformed to the zoning regulations and sought to maximize space, light, and views while also creating a sense of privacy and retreat for the young owners on a busy beachside street.

    16. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.
