“Artfarm,” Pigs Tattooed by Belgian Artist Wim Delvoye
The Belgian artist Wim Delvoye has been tattooing pigs since the 1990s. In the early 21st century a tattooed pigs project was set up in the Art Farm in China, where there are fewer strictures regarding animal welfare than in most parts of the Western world.

did the ‘artist’ ask the pigs if they WANT to be tatooed?
terrible. and to call it art is even worse. i hope a local animal protection organization will make an end to this crime.

Yeah, must agree, all those shouting foul – presumably you are happy to neuter your dogs / cats ? eat chickens? pigs? cows? Wear leather? sit on leather? Don’t think anyone asked those animals if they minded did they.
Sorry – the pig is alive, and probably now being looked after better too – now that its a live museum piece

This is terrible. I have tattoo’s.. they hurt! I wonder if pigs skin is thicker then human? Pretty interesting IF it does not hurt the pigs. Otherwise this is a crime!

I love art like this; it so immediately forces hypocrisy up to the surface; people seem unable to control themselves when they see it!
I’d say “genius!” if it wasn’t so depressingly easy to get people to admit that their values are insane and lack any coherence whatsoever. WTG, pig-tattooer! You rock. I love how proud and pretty some of them seem to be feeling. “Check out my tats! Oinque oinque!”

The idiot before me sounds like an ignorant jackass, who obviously doesn’t know what it’s like to have any values, let alone any respect for defenseless souls. Tattoos are painful, and to practice your “art” on other people without their permission (seeing as how animals can’t speak for themselves), needs to be against the law.

i think its cute personally, depending upon how they go about tattooing them.
