Claridge’s Christmas Tree in London by John Galliano

The Christian Dior creative director John Galliano was asked by luxury London hotel Claridge’s to design a festive tree, the first time in its 112-year history that it has collaborated on its Christmas decorations.

An elegant white creation that stemmed from the base of the hotel’s sweeping foyer staircase, stalked by icy blue leopards along the way, the tree was shown off in all its festive glory to a fashion crowd including Paul Smith, Henry Holland, Ben Grimes, Lulu Guinness, James Brown and Stephen Jones.

Galliano said: ‘I am thrilled that Dior is collaborating with Claridge’s this Christmas.

‘I love to visit the hotel when I am in London, particularly at this time of the year – and I hope to bring a twist to the traditional tree.

‘I want to combine the festive with the innovative, the spirit of Dior with the beauty of Claridge’s.

I want to create something spectacular that will inspire the perfect start to the season!’

The hotel’s General Manager Philippe Leboeuf added: ‘We are very excited to be working on this ground-breaking project, a first in Claridge’s history, with the legendary John Galliano.

‘Both Claridge’s and Dior are synonymous with the combination of impeccable heritage, inherent glamor and contemporary thinking so we are looking forward to seeing his creative vision for our tree!

‘This is another bold step in Claridge’s history to provoke, confound and delight our guests.’
