Creatures of Habitat by Sean Kenney

Philadelphia Zoo displays a very special exhibition called ”Creatures of Habitat”, a Gazillion-Piece Animal Adventure” which shows endangered species throughout the work of world-renowned Lego artist Sean Kenney.

It took him over one year to complete the 34 animals, being the largest project he’s undertaken. Indeed the sculptures of birds, frogs, tamarinds, and a polar bear feature together about 95,000 Lego pieces.

“I love being able to explain serious problems in ways that kids can understand them,”

says Kenney.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of these fading animals and educate the young visitors about the importance of preservation in an imaginative way. A description of the animal’s habitat accompanies the Lego sculptures.

Visitors are encouraged to recycle, avoid environmentally irresponsible products and bicycle instead of drive when they can.

Zoo officials are hoping the impressive sculptures will bring a better understanding of threatened ecosystems.
