Sound-Absorbing Curtains
The Empa researchers, in collaboration with textile designer Annette Douglas and silk weavers Weisbrod-Zurrer AG, have developed lightweight, translucent curtains which are five times more effective at absorbing sound than their conventional counterparts. The fabric is five times more effective at absorbing sounds than normal curtains, though I’m not so sure it blocks out the light as well. The curtains are going to be used mostly in commercial spaces, such as offices, restaurants and hotel lobbies, but a few people here at Giz think they could be just right for their bedrooms. If you catch their drift.
