Designed Keyla Hernandez & Jason Orbe-Smith as part of Hernan Diaz Alonso’s Spring 2012 XLAB studio at SCI-Arc, the ‘Bundle House’ explores curvature and line becomes part of the landscape, moving along with it. The house is composed of series of different formal curve languages created with empathy towards one another.
The ground is first interpreted as a grid and then deformed through a series of disruptions in this linear system in order to create topography and rhythm in a previously flat site. Enclosures and apertures are generated by the density of linework, offering both privacy and filtered views to the exterior landscape.
