Bubble Baby Bed by Lana Agiyan

Nothing cuter than seeing a baby sleep in a protected environment, the Bubble Baby was build with this in mind. Invented by designer Lana Agiyan, the bed is a vacuum-thermoformed and blow molded acrylic baby bed is inspired by a traditional Russian ‘Nevalyashka,’ a tumbler-toy. The transparent bed can rock in any direction up to a 17 degree angle, but will return to an upright position thanks to a 15-kilogram (33-lb) plexiglass weight center.

The mattress contains a layer of buckwheat hulls – said to be ideal for babies because it’s naturally antibacterial, hypoallergenic, anti fungal, breathable, insulating and odor resistant – and is said to give the impression the baby is sleeping on a cloud within the acrylic bubble, allowing anxious parents to watch their child’s every move. There is no pricing or availability at the moment, but Lana has designed the Bubble Bed so it can be mass-produced via low-cost manufacturing processes. And she’s apparently working with an Indian furniture maker to put it into production very soon. If the price is not too high it’s going to be a hit!
