‘Connect 8,’ the Latest Green Energy-Efficient Prefab Series by Connect:Homes
Founders of Connect:Homes, Jared Levy and Gordon Stott, announce the second installation of their revolutionary prototype home. In a first for the prefab industry, Connect:Homes will manufacture modern, green, and affordable prefab homes from a single California-based factory and ship these homes to national and international markets in a ground-breaking use of the intermodal shipping container network. They became increasingly frustrated with the state of the current prefab marketplace and left to design a modular system that solved the longstanding limitations endemic to the modular industry: namely high delivery costs and home affordability. The new system allows Connect:Homes to be more inclusive with pricing. The company offers modern, sustainable prefab homes that can be delivered virtually anywhere.
Jared Levy, Co-Founder of Connect:Homes said:
“Our goal was to give consumers the high quality home that they desired at a price point that they could afford,”
“We did not want to be limited by geographic location,” explained Levy. “There is a growing global demand for affordable green, energy-efficient homes, but until now there hasn’t been a way to sell homes to national and international markets. Connect:Homes will change that, delivering our homes from factory to doorstep anywhere in the country with the same ease as any other major commodity.”
Levy added, “We asked ourselves if you can ship a shipping container full of 64,000 lbs of goods around the world for $5,000, why should it cost you so much to ship a house?”
Connect:Homes also centralizes the construction process with the goal of eliminating waste entirely. Once the homes are delivered to homebuyers, Connect:Homes products also offer superior energy efficiency, using less resources and providing significant yearly savings. For example, all homes come standard with LED lighting systems, and all are designed to attain the points necessary for LEED certification.
Each home comes with floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, house-wide LED lighting systems, 100% recycled glass countertops, and high end fixtures such as in-wall tank dual flush Duravit toilets – features that they are able offer customary because of efficiencies gained through their unique construction. The Connect:Homes system is designed to be adaptable to any climate. R45 insulation in the roof, R21 insulation in the walls, and R30 in the floors comes standard, and can be upgraded as required. The structural steel frames are only exposed to the inside of the house, creating a “thermal-break” that prevents energy loss.
