“Non-Sign II,” Billboard by Lead Pencil Studio

A U.S. art studio called Lead Pencil Studio has created a sculpture on the border between the United States and Canada that consists of a blank space in the shape of a billboard, surrounded by tangled metal. Titled Non-Sign II, the piece was commissioned by the U.S. government.

The artists behind it are Annie Han and Daniel Mihalyo, who’ve won numerous awards for their work over the last decade. The pair carefully twisted metal to give the appearance of a ghost of one of the billboards that populate the area.

“Bringing Color to Life,” Paint Sculptures Made Of Sound Vibrations
Creative studio Dentsu London worked with photographer Linden Gledhill to create an amazing series of colorful sounds sculptures made using paint droplets as part of a promo for Canon Pixma printers.
“Bringing Color to Life” was funded by Canon to promote their Pixma printer line. It’s beautiful, haunting effect—made all the more fascinating by this look behind the curtain.

Australian design student Yunyeen Yang is the talent behind a neat set of sliced fruit shaped juice cartons by fictional manufacturer, Jooze. Designed as part of a school project, each Jooze packaging is indicative of its flavour inside; a crafty detail encouraging children to consume healthier drinking habits from a young age. Their shape is like half a slice of any round fruit, and they stand on an angle.

The South Pond Pavilion for yoga and other uses at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, Illinois by Studio Gang Architects, 2010. The project transforms a picturesque urban pond from the 19th century into an ecological habitat buzzing with life. With the design’s improvements to water quality, hydrology, landscape, accessibility, and shelter, the site is able to function as an outdoor classroom in which the co-existence of natural and urban surroundings is demonstrated.

Volkswagen Builds “Fast Lane” Slide In A Subway

For those looking to move a little quicker, auto giant Volkswagen has created a “Fast Lane” slide at the Alexanderplatz subway station in Berlin. So the commuters have the choice to either take the staircase or have fun and save time by sliding down the Fast Lane.
An idea that I’ve seen discussed many times before but not put into practice, VW put a slide into an underground train station in Berlin, giving people a fast way down, as this video shows…

SGD and Kibio Launch Verre Infini Design Competition
To mark the launch of a website dedicated to its environmentally responsible glass, Verre Infini, SGD has announced a design competition in conjunction with Clarins-owned beauty brand, Kibio.
The France-based packaging manufacturer is inviting members of the public (the competition is open to residents of France, Belgium and Switzerland under 30 years of age) to design packaging for Kibio’s skin care product, Crème Originelle. The winner of the competition could win up to €5,000 and see his or her design become a reality, said SGD.

Crafetefan has been designed for Coca-Cola by Porky Hefer of Animal Farm. Made with 2500 standard Coke bottle crates – this huge ‘This giant’ is located at the fan park in Newtown. It weighs a whopping 25 tons and measures 54 feet tall.
