Semiramis, Karim Rashid’s first hotel project, is a fusion of Rashid’s influence and owner Dakis Joannou’s vision and own dedication to the modern art world. The 52-room hotel is an Athens’ design-inspired hotel, offering a new intimate alternative to modern travellers which focuses on positive energy, heightened experiences, culture, art, and design. Set 340 meters above sea level, the hotel offers an oasis from the humidity of central Athens.

Five Hotel, Paris

fivehotel1.jpg

In its determination to create a different world, the Five Hotel has used one of the most noble of Asian arts: lacquer.
You will recognize the art of Isabel Emmerique in all the rooms of the Five Hotel. Isabel has been working with Chinese lacquer for 30 years; she is very well known abroad and is the only non-Asian artist to have won the Kanasawa Triennale prize in Japan. Thanks to her ultramodern works you can rediscover the Chinese lacquer approach… elsewhere and differently.

Dasparkhotel

The Dasparkhotel brings a whole new meaning to budget accommodations. Visitors to Linz, Austria can reserve one of these concrete and wooden cylinders in the middle of a city park for a night’s rest. The round pods are just what they look like: frighteningly tiny enclosures without running water, lights or bathrooms.“The external simplicity surrounds an unexpectedly comfortable interior” as each pipe is outfitted with a bed, lighting, and other furniture, with bathroom and restaurant facilities shared in a public space.

Hotel Everland

400.jpg
Created by the Swiss artists Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann, the hotel Everland has just one room on the roof of the gallery for contemporary art in Leipzig, a luxurious bathroom, a king-size bed and a lounge. The bounteous dimensioned room represents the subjective dream of a hotel: the architecture, the playful details, as well as the request to steal the golden embroidered bath towels. From June 2006 until August 5, 2007 you can take a peek at Hotel Everland during the opening times.
