Villa NM by UNstudio

villa-NM-unstudio.jpg

Villa NM is a project designed by Unstudio. A box-like volume bifurcates into two separate volumes; one seamlessly following the northern slope; the other lifted above the hill creating a covered parking space and generating a split-level internal organization. From inside the huge window strips from floor to ceiling allow a fluid continuity between interior and landscape. From the exterior the reflective glass seams to become one with its surroundings. This house offers from the inside a great vista of the landscape all around the house.

The Wind Shaped Pavillion by Michael Jantsen

win-shaped-pavilion-111111.jpg

Michael Jantsen has designed this Wind Shaped Pavillion. The idea is that parts of the lightweight fabric structure would move and the wind would slowly and randomly rotate each of the six segments around a central support frame, which means that the pavillion’s shape would be ever-changing, and the electricity generated would light the structure at night. It’s a new kind of living architecture, always in movement and which is changing of perspective.

Porous Drape by Mitsuru Hamada

Mitsuru-Hamada-2.jpg

Mitsuru Hamada, a Japanese architect, won the 2006 Steedman Fellowship with his design of an environmental observatory. The biennial competition, sponsored by the College of Architecture and the Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Design, which are both divisions of the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts, is open to young architects from around the world. The $30,000 first place award supports study and research abroad and is the largest such award in the United States.

Porous Drape represents a poetic recreation of Edo Castle. Also 58-meters-tall, the gently tapering edifice is open to the elements and is characterized by 100 angular openings, which invite visitors to contemplate the surrounding park. To minimize environmental impact, it would be constructed of tightly packed blocks of soil, each measuring 20 square-centimeters, cut from the base of the site and mixed with cement, sand and water.

Brad Pitt’s House

brad-pitt-house-3.jpg

Mr. Pitt designed his home in the Hollywood Hills, a place that could be called a sanctuary rather than a house. He says he has always been inspired by three famous architects, Frank Gehry, Rem Koolhaas & Daniel Libeskind.

The contrast of the rooms made of wood from the floor to the ceiling and the white rooms brings a really dynamic atmosphere but it’s also very relaxing. Brad chose modern furniture that is simple, relaxing and perfect to cozy up and read a book.

What Makes You Wealthy designed by Core Architects

core 1.jpg

Core’s designs demonstrate the idea that wealth can be found in four of life’s essential activities: eat, sleep, bath and play. The four activities are divided into two halves to form a symbiotic relationship between the introverted “bathing and sleeping” and the extroverted “eating and playing”. Each pavilion is organized by how the activities affect one another.

The Cloud By Monica Forster

The Cloud By Monica Forster.jpg

The Cloud is a portable room that you can use as a meeting room or meditation room. It’s ideal to use to escape for creative brainstorming. Easily transported from place to place, the room inflates in three minutes and stays inflated until it’s folded away into its connected carrying bag. The Cloud is entered and exited via a self–closing slit door allowing ample ventilation. What a nice idea to have invented a cloud that you can take wherever you want as a wallet.

Cool Design In Kiruna By Ala Architects

Ala Architects Kiruna.jpg

ALA’s design seems to be the hot favorite to win the international competition to design and develop a building for the Sami Parliament. The firm’s ideology of beauty created in a practical, efficient and analytical design approach is clearly visible in this unique design wich look like a space shuttle.
