‘Campus 2′ show that the futuristic building will have the same sleek curves and minimalist design as the iconic Apple Stores. Most of the new campus will be powered by solar panels and renewable energy sources. The cost of the building will cost billions. Because the glass in the building will not have a single straight edge piece of glass, the curved glass will have to be manufactured specially for the building, and will be curved to accommodate the building’s size, shape, and curvy dimensions.

Tree House in Belgium by Baumraum Architect

This oval-shaped house designed by Baumraum Architect built in the FOrest of Begium is divided in two, separating the space into two apartment.

Designed as an escape or retreat, the spaces provide an environment in which Business men can discuss sustainability within an inspirational context or even for scientists to temporarily reside whilst carrying out research.

The architects behind the design, Baumraum, have created a unique image for this project. The tree house was initially conceived as a sheet of paper which has been pleated so it encloses both the interior and exterior spaces.

The TREEHOUSE consists of five elements: two cabins on different levels, connecting terraces, a staircase and a connecting roof. In the lower cabin there is a coffee lounge, pantry, restroom and technology room. The upper room is dedicated to meetings and other events that are appropriate to a view from in amongst the surrounding trees.

Villa Rieteiland-Oost by Egeon Architecten


Villa Rieteiland-Oost has a facade entirely covered of wood paneling, on one side of the facade, they are applied horizontally while on the other side of the facade they are applied vertically. The spiral staircase on the outside fits entirely with the exterior of the facade and allows to access to the first floor from the outside of the house without having to go inside, which allows have some privacy.

The three levels of the residence accommodate the open plan living room on the bottom floor, the private areas in the middle, and an office space to literally top it all.The house is built from fair and sustainable materials and features a heat pump and low temperature underfloor heating, natural ventilation, high insulation values of roof walls and floor, special heat-resistant glass, a sedum roof, attention to thermal bridging details and orientation. E’terra Samara resort designed by Studio, Farrow Partnership is composed of tree-houses villas strewn in Canada’s Bruce Peninsula Forest

E’terra Samara Treehouse’architecture was inspired by the topography of a samara, a propeller-like seed capsule that falls from maple trees in autumn. Prefabricated off-site, the structures draw upon sailing boat construction techniques to create the smooth, curved shapes from locally-sourced, FSC-certified wood.Each treehouse is protected from the elements by a fabric ‘bonnet,’ which is intended to function like the leaves of a tree and will be constructed of PTFE fiberglass-coated non-toxic, flame-resistant, self-cleaning TiO2 fabric.

Whangapoua, Prefab Hut by Crosson Clarke Carnachan Architects

Whangapoua is a Prefab Hut built by Architects Crosson Clarke Carnachan on the shore of an idyllic white sanded beach in New Zealand’s Coromandel Peninsula rests an elegant hut. Closed up, the rough macrocarpa-cladding blends into the landscape and perches quietly on the dunes, as passersby wonder how it could possibly function for a family of five.

Designed to close up against the elements, the hut measures a mere 40 square metres and rests on two thick wooden ‘sleds’ that allow it to be shifted around the beach front section. ‘Fincube,’ Prefab House by Studio Aisslinger

Fincube Prefab House is a sustainable & transportable low-energy house built by Studio Aisslinger. Made entirely of local wood, the building provides 47 m2 of living space with a minimal CO2 footprint: local suppliers and local crafts using local long-lasting and recyclable materials manufactured with the precision and care of tyrolese handwork. It can easily be dismantled and rebuilt on a new site, and even more important for nature hideaways: it requires minimum soil sealing.

Developed with a South Tyrolian team, the FINCUBE was created 1200m above sea level near Bozen in Northern Italy, with a brilliant view of the famous Dolomite mountains. The hideaway-innature nomadic housing concept is since recently exhibited as a prototype in Ritten, above Bozen. Read More…

‘MIMA,’ Prefabricated House by Mima Architect


‘IMA,’ Prefabricated house designed by Portuguese Architect Mima consists of a square post-and-beam structure completely glazed on all sides, subdivided by modular 1,5mx3m wooden frames. MIMA houses come with additional plywood panels which can be placed on the inside and the outside of the building, for a replacement of any window by a wall in a matter of seconds.


The inside is defined by a regular grid of 1,5m, whose intermediate lines leave gaps for internal walls to be added when needed. Again, in a matter of seconds, a subdivided space can be replaced by an open space or vice versa. Moreover, each side of internal and external walls can have a different color/finishing, which allows a dramatic change through a simple wall rotation. Read More…

‘M-velope,’ Shelter by Michael Jantzen

The M-vironments were developed by Michael Jantzen to accommodate a wide range of markets with different sizes, shapes, materials, and panel types. The system can be used for exhibit structures, pavilions, play environments for kids, retail spaces, office modules, and other commercial applications.

‘First Light’ House for Solar Decathlon 2011


The house is called ‘First Ligh’t because “New Zealand is the first place the morning light shines at the start of a new day” . The Meridian First Light house was inspired by the traditional Kiwi bach – a New Zealand holiday home. The design reflects the relaxed New Zealand lifestyle where socializing and a connection with the outdoors are central to living. The heart of the design is the glazed central section which functions as a bridge between the natural environment and the indoors.

Though First Light is modeled on a vacation home, it was intended as a permanent residence for a couple. It was recently sold at an auction, and following Solar Decathlon 2011, it will return to New Zealand and its new owners. The student team, along with Victoria University, are exploring commercial opportunities as a result of the project, according to Nuttall: “There is a lot of demand out there for this sort of thing and we hope to continue our creative involvement in this field.” Read More…
