This refreshing residence with rounded corners and an ice cube aspect is called ‘Lovelli Residence.’ The house built by Word of Mouth Studio, is 3,230 square foot two story home located in Seminyak, on the west coast of Bali.

What brings this light touch to this home are; the perfect proportions, the mix of white and green nature and the fact that all are angles rounded. Word of Mouth Studio has reached a dimension, giving this house a touch’Zen’ in all aspects, both with the layout of the rooms inside, the relationship between indoor and outdoor.

Word of Mouth Studio says;

We believe that space, volume, light and the natural flow around us have a great relevance on the way we feel and behave, so our approach to architecture is to achieve the best possible combination of these essentials in each project. Our designs in architecture are meant for greater interaction, multiple perspectives and contemporary comfort.

Our buildings are not meant to be serious nor heavy, but light and bright, with nature playing a vital role in our designs and in our lives. We are addicted to good architecture and design.

Week’nder by Lazor Office, is the sustainably designed and fabricated modern house, delivered for less. It utilizes the highest quality materials and building standards available, rendered in a casual, approachable, elegant style. Week’nder was fabricated off-site to save waste and reduce the environmental impact associated with site construction. The no-cut design, which conserves material and work, includes 2×6 framing and plywood sheets on concrete piers.

The structure was built off the ground to maintain the existing site; the site has water-permeable gravel in the driveway and irrigation-free native grasses everywhere else.

As the most ‘design flexible’ modern prefabricated home system in the world, you can see that FlatPak components are easily configured to produce unique floor plans, sections and material palettes to suit your specific site and program. Call it “user friendly.”

Luxembourg City-based studio Metaform designed a contemporary 4,000 square foot apartment building in Luxembourg.
The sculptural project stands out and contrasts the surrounding neighborhood buildings. The architects developed a 4-storey apartment block combining elements of dynamic and vibrant art with discrete and geometrical architecture.

The project area is of about 370 square meters, which have been efficiently divided into four separate homes: the first floor with its 80 square meters can comfortably host a small family of three, the two smaller studios on the intermediate level are ideal for young couples while the last and most spacious floor of 115 square meters is a stylish and sophisticated duplex, perfect for tenants with extravagant tastes.

The choice of materials contributes to the final sculpture-like character intended for the edifice: by using a black reflective metal to cover the external facade, an intense contrast with the adjacent houses was produced.
Takeshi Hosaka architects has built this single-storey private dwelling in Yamanashi, Japan for a couple and their three children.
The house creates a subtle gradation from outdoors to indoors, integrating the presence of nature into the living space. The south facade features a collapsible transparent surface that can be completely opened to the woods beyond. Interspersedly planted with small trees and shrubs, the partially-sheltered garden space projects natural characteristics of the site into the compounds of the private dwelling.

Although the building has no other windows, natural light enters through skylights atop each of the gables. The reinforced concrete beams funnel natural sunlight into the interior, shifting the atmosphere of the house throughout the day.

Conceived as a series of layers that gradually add more indoor elements, the rectangular layout places the private programs such as the bathroom and bedrooms to the north and communal spaces to the south.
Dune house by Norwegian Architects Jarmund/Vigsnæs is Located in Thorpeness, England on the Suffolk coast has an open-plan ground floor that is entirely surrounded by clear glass. To get the effect, the ground floor is primarily composed of glass while the top consists of an imposing, thick black roof. Grass-covered dunes surrounding the house protect the ground floor rooms and terraces from strong sea winds.

Its form derives both from a wish to echo local traditions while providing something ‘refreshingly new’, and from memories of childhood holidays in England, spent in the attic bedrooms of gable-roofed B&Bs.

The upper storey is divided into four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, over which the orange steel-clad roof is folded in peaks, and a library space providing access to the roof terrace. Bathtubs are placed in bedrooms rather than bathrooms to take advantage of the views out.

This fantastic house is realized by the very talented architects Ando studio based in Israel. The proportions are just beautiful and harmonious. The Inside rooms are integrated into these rectangle shape engraved by ancient alphbet, which allows light to pass through and reflect the words on the walls of the house. The inside rooms are looking to the outside thanks to the large glass doors. This creation is just amazing.

Italian studio JM Architecture has designed the Lake Lugano House, a 3,700 square foot polygonal glass house built around the lake in the south-east of Switzerland, at the border between Switzerland and Italy.

The glass pavilion overlooks two very defined areas: the first, toward the mountain, is a very private zone resulted in the area between the property line and the building setback line according to the local building code. The second is a garden overlooking the lake. In the same way, the bedrooms face a garden enclosed by the building and the perimeter wall.

Lying on the slope of a hill, on the shores of Lake Lugano, the villa consists of two volumes organized on different levels due to the particular topography of the site.

A polygonal shaped glass pavilion with rounded edges stands above a linear underground block. The living and dining room, the kitchen and storage spaces are located in the pavilion, while bedrooms, bathrooms and garage are in the lower level. Each level relates itself with independent outdoor spaces, which are closely related with the interiors.

The ring, obtained between the perimeter wall above and the pavilion, amplifies the interior space, with seems much larger than what it actually is. The ring-like space, that embraces the building on the north side, grants constant ventilation and natural light to the living areas, also due to the white cladding of the perimeter wall and white gravel which reflect the sunlight coming from the south.

The horizontal treatment of the perimeter wall emphasizes the scenography, creating moving shadow effects according to the different position of the sun in the sky. At the same time, a night-time artificial light scene is the ideal reverse field for the lake panorama.

All the additional functions of the pavilion are contained in a central lacquered wood block, which acts as a sort of a thick penetrable wall that separates the kitchen from the living room without dividing the space with doors, and in which are located the powder room, the kitchen, the stairs, bookcases, all mechanical systems and the technological and audio-video equipment.

Great attention is given to the environmental aspects, as the use of geothermal energy, roof gardens, the rain-water collection system, the choice of highly efficient low-emittance glass insulated with argon gas, to optimize the thermal efficiency of the shell and the use of natural sun shading as the placement of deciduous trees in the south-west area of the building.”

The architects designed a modern open plan space which houses a living area, gourmet kitchen that is equipped with upscale stainless steel appliances, bar and a video hall. The living area seems huge and this is possible due to the floor to ceiling windows and the skyscraper picture on one of the walls. Furthermore the bar has a sculpture like a mountain form behind it, which is also used for storage and captures light beautifully.

From a conceptual point of view the eco-friendly 2,228 square feet (207 square meters) loft was designed as a single open-plan space with a great lounge, containing a living room, gourmet kitchen, bar andvideo hall, all designed to meet the needs of a hectic family’s everyday life.

Coromandel Bach house located in Coromandel, New Zealand has beeb designed by Crosson Clarke Carnachan Architects. The house was conceived as a container sitting lightly on the land for habitation or the dream of habitation. A simple mechanism opens the “box” on arrival, providing a stage for living – and closes down on departure, providing protection.

The intention was to reinterpret the New Zealand building tradition – the crafting of wood – the expression of structure, cladding, lining and joinery in a raw and unique way. The construction is reminiscent of the “trip” or “rafter” dams common in the Coromandel region at the turn of last century. Heavy vertical structural members supporting horizontal boarding.

The unadorned natural timber, a sustainable and renewable resource, provides a connection to nature and the natural.
A simple mechanism to the deck allows the “box” to open up on arrival – providing a stage for living – and to close down on departure – providing protection.

The house has a simple rectangular plan that sits across the contour in a patch of cleared bush in the manner of the rural shed, facing north and the view.

The living room is open to the outside and the sun, a metaphorical tent or campsite, while the bunkrooms are enclosed and cool. The large fireplace allows winter occupation and the open bathroom and movable bath allows the rituals of showering and bathing to become and experience connected to nature.

This bach is an attempt to provide an environment to capture the essential spirit of the New Zealand holiday in the New Zealand landscape.

Solo House by Pezo Von Ellrichshausen Architects as part of the Solo Houses, Signature Houses Collection, a series of eight to ten vacation homes designed by some of the talented young international designers. Pezo Von Ellrichshausen Architects, Mos Office, Didier Faustino and his studio Mésarchitectures, Sou Fujimoto, Studio Mumbai, and TNA – Takei-Nabeshima-Architects are among the architects designing the 200 sqm size homes, with the first collection to be set in the countryside of Matarraña. Their project SOLO HOUSES, located on the heights of Matarranya, in south Catalonia, Spain, proposes a villa that is totally open to the countryside, a cross between a patio and an observation post, whose heavy base acts as foundation.

This is a singular piece that occupies a dominant position in the landscape. It is a horizontal figure separated from the ground. A sculptural structure, unitary and monolithic, that is supported by a blind podium. An elevated condition visible from a distance and another that disappears under the foliage. The platform’s aerial world establishes its own cardinal directions. A perimeter ring, a panoramic rotunda measured by sixteen columns at regular distances, is occupied by a sequence of rooms with informally defined functions.

Transparent and symmetrical rooms articulated by open corners. A portico too narrow as to hold a static room and too deep as to hold a vigilance balcony. On the platform’s aerial world there is a single interior room. This room has no roof. It is barely perforated in all four directions of the landscape and its base is occupied by water, a volume of water as profound as the high that separates the house from the natural ground. This contained water, the softest patio known, always finds the way to move the sky to the bottom of the earth.
Roof Garden Apartment is a state of the art 2-storey family house and garden built onto the roof of a warehouse building in central London. Designed by Tonkin Liu in association with Richard Rogers, for a couple and their four children, the 6-bedroom apartment is the third private house undertaken by Tonkin Liu. Like its predecessors, House 1a and the Young House, its design is highly ambitious, offering a new interpretation of the London town house.

An urban eyrie Built onto an existing building, the design presents a solution for building up in an increasingly dense metropolis, where house plots are scarce. The apartment maximises the potentials of the site with generous glazed South and West elevations to open up views of the city.

An arrangement of thin steel girders and glazing create openness and height, enabling the main interior space to readily register the ever-changing light of the sky. The muteness of buildings materials allow the apartment to blend into the clouds.

Greening the City The design makes a virtue of the development by introducing the activity of family life and a landscape of luscious greenery into the monochrome fabric of the urban skyline. White mesh cloaks the building, controlling sunlight into the apartment and providing an armature for fragrant climbers planted around the building perimeter. With time the apartment will be transformed by wisteria and jasmine, greening the city skyline.
O House located in Vierwaldstättersee, Switzerland is designed by architect Philippe Stuebi with Eberhard Tröger. On both, the front and the lake side, this sculptural villa shows very expressive and ornamental facades.

Facing mount pilatus the white concrete elements are dotted with circular openings that allow glimpses into the two-levelled orangery with its exotic plants, as well as the lounge, the guest tract and the staircase accessed through one of the openings at the ground floor. The lake side with superb mountain views of the rigi and the bürgenstock shows off a protruding, glistering loggia made of round glass bricks. Very decorative, such elements are a strong contrast to the rough renderings of the side facades.

The basement nestles along the slope and opens into a large fitness area with a 25 meter pool, half inside, half outside, which is inserted in a white terrazzo plate. This terrazzo plate extends gracefully from the pool bar located inside along the boathouse made of white tinted, rough jetted concrete into lake lucerne.

Created by 2012Architects, Villa Welpeloo was designed for clients Tjibbe Knol and Ingrid Blans. “Reused materials account for 60 percent of the structure,” says Jongert. “And that goes up to as much as 90 percent when it comes to the interior.” The benefit of this approach, which Jongert and Bergsma like to call “recyclicity” or “superuse,” is, of course, a greatly reduced construction carbon footprint, due to material recycling and lower transportation costs. But it’s also, insists Jongert, “a way to reach a very high level of lively aesthetics.”

The basics of the interior are shaped by the exhibition space where paintings can be shown. To make the paintings stand out the colours and materials of the interior are on the background. Besides that all the electrical wiring for appliances and lighting has been hidden inside the walls. All built in furniture has a vertical calibration that is used playfully and expressive to place various functions within the furniture.

The stair and the furnishings have the same reticent set of colours. On the inside of the furnishings the noteworthy materialization of building signage as drawers and cupboards appears. An elevator for the transport of goods is incorporated in the studio and hidden from sight; it is the building elevator that was used during the construction of the steel frame. The art works are lit by remarkable armatures made from the stretchers of broken umbrella’s. It is designed for this villa by studio En-Fer.

Materials The waste materials provided a continuous stream of new incentives to develop and refine the design. New shapes and innovative construction methods were needed to incorporate the found materials. Construction The main structure is made out of steel profiles that previously made up a machine for textile production, an industry once very important in the region. One of these machines gave us enough steel to construct the whole villa.Facades The main facades are built with wood normally used for particleboard or for burning. TKF, a factory which produces cables, has large numbers of redundant cable reels, too damaged for further original use. The wooden slats which make up the core of these reels are generally undamaged and of a standard size. These slats, collected from a thousand reels, provided enough material for the facade.

The House on Pali Hill was designed by Studio Mumbai Architect as a refuge from the bustle of Mumbai. An existing house on a narrow plot was stripped until only the concrete skeleton remained. It is a haven of peace in the midst of this great city that runs 24 hours over 24 hours. The surrounding trees and wood screens create an intimate setting and ensure protection against the urban environment of Mumbai. The building is constructed from a series of Louvres made from hardy species of palm. Light filters through the house just as it does through a the trees.
Mexican-born architect Fransisco Cortina was living in Barcelona when he designed this house in the southern Spain with internationally renowned practice Legorreta+Legorreta. Set within an exclusive development in Andalusia, the building includes features that are unmistakably influenced by both architects.

The house was planned around a central courtyard in order to focus on life inside, with a window onto the sea view. Walls saturated with colour, an intriguing use of light and space, and soothing water features. The exterior gardens comprise regional vegetation such as olive trees and arid climate plants, on a base of yellow earth like that used in Seville’s bullring.
