Theses Colorful furnitures by Anthony Hartley were launched at Tent London, part of London Design Week. Each piece are handmade, from the original drawings through to the finished products. Made of hand-sprayed, high-gloss, lacquered plywood, the cabinet is the evolution of a chair which Hartley designed 10 years ago called Frank, which was itself an homage to a chair by the architect Frank Gehry.

Edna 1 is an oak cabinet with a single, multicolored, laminated ply drawer, hand-sprayed and lacquered to a high gloss finish. ‘She has remarkably sexy black gloss legs,’ says Hartley of the piece.
Egyptian designer Karim Rashid </strong>has created the ‘Ottawa Collection,’ a series of furniture accessories for BoConcept.

The Ottawa Collection includes a complete dining room set with table, chairs, sideboard and cabinet. A light-hearted line of accessories complements the set, creating an entire environment for urbanites.

The minimalist but never ordinary style offers unique features and precise detailing that make each piece hard to resist. The dining table features a soft slanting under-skirting and leg clusters that make it welcoming. Inspired by nature, the dining chair celebrates the welcome simplicity of the leaf that creates an elegant cross-table profile when pushed in, and like the table, sits on a forest of legs, perfect for tucking in your feet. The sideboard has sensual and intuitive handles that are really functional eye candy. Colorful inserts can be used to customize the handles and ends of the sideboard piece.

The cabinet has large graphic easy-to-use handles that add a whimsical element and come in two colors, oak or green. Together, the pieces create an urban environment that is smart and savvy.

Accessories that complete the line include a bold black and white fingerprint rug created to speak about the “new global uniqueness where we are all empowered to express our individuality”, suggests Rashid.

A cheerful color palette of puzzle shaped vases, a futuristic bright orange pendant lamp, a coordinating glass touch lamp with the same bright orange cord, a hand-made aluminum bowl designed to form a pattern, and a set of originally designed cups, espresso cups and rimmed saucers that celebrate

Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc combines the feminine, the frivolous and the kitsh to create bold, witty designs. Delicate stitching ribbons and frill effects abound in her work, but with steely edge.

‘I use feminine archetypes in alternative ways. They are usually considered frivolous, but in my work they’re restrained, so they inquire new meaning’.

This year , she launched her new ‘Selfdiscipline’ collection at Spazio Rossana Olrlandi in Milan which sees her combines her signature glossy retro style which sees her combine her signature glossy retro style with a stricter, clean -lined aesthetic.

POMPON Lamp
“Bring waves of boldness into rationally organized dwellings is its high-class mission. The moment it falls from the ceiling it becomes an obvious imposer. High on shine ropes leave little to ponder: you want to touch them, even steal a sneaky peek, just to see where all the glow is coming from. While it may seem like something that is totally content to be reduced to yet another fatally beautiful thing, its bold, cold curves tell a different story. Next time you will think. Twice?”

“You’ve rested your body on different types of seating devices, but have you ever tried to place something underneath you and make it come closer? It has every detail that the first league offices want you to have, except that it’s not afraid of being delicate, slightly deranged, and otherworldly. The hi-tech, retro-look mechanism zooms in and out with the help of a sleek handle, while the brass wheels dance all over the place.”

HOMEWORK Chair
HOMEWORK Table
“Where can all the evidence of dangerous liaisons be stashed? Well, in the pocket of course, and what a fabulous pocket it is. The monolith business meaning table can elegantly unhook and open up like a true pulp-fiction novel, letting out a fan construction of pleated textile. This is where you can keep all your bits and bobs and paperwork of exceptional importance like bills and, well, dirty words hidden under the harmlessly-looking surface.”

HOMEWORK Cabinet
“The prêt-à-porter got all emotional about conventional and convenient storage methods, causing constant clashes and other messy encounters among them. After all, they were not made to be thrown into darkness. For people that merely yawn in the presence of a walk-in closet, a wardrobe cabinet on brass wheels–with a paper fan that plays the role of the drawers–provides an interesting piece of fashion advice. Its capacity shrinks and expands with the number of little black dresses or trench coats inside, but it is always stylishly belted with a plush silk band.”

Babel combines different elements of modern design to an extravagant, graceful and humorous design, as people are used to by Marcel Wanders. Babel possesses modern plastic legs that visually remind of the classic, artful turning wooden legs. The plastic frame of the chair has a seat area that really consists of wood and where a transparent plastic backrest lies on. The otherwise classic approaching look from Babel receives a modern lightness through the transparent backrest.

The ‘womb’ shape inspires very different feelings in different people; to me it is a warm, cosy space, for contemplation and rest. There are now 21 cities with populations larger than ten million, and it is predicted that there will be many more in the future. Soaring property prices and lack of available space are causing more and more people to seek alternatives to owning their own home in the city, for example sharing your room with your partner, brother or friend. It is essential to continue to develop new ways of allowing people to comfortably co-exist in these increasingly densely populated environments. By creating an enclosed space ‘Hush’ provides a personal retreat, an escape into a dark, quiet, natural space, or state of mind. Hush can also be transformed to provide more traditional open seating.

Alessi is breaking the mold with their AlessiLux bulb collection designed by Giovanni Alessi Anghini, Gabriele Chiave and Frederic Goor is and manufactured by Foreverlamp.

The light bulb becomes an object of design, with its own personality and a right to be a protagonist of the scene regardless of its frame through a new, innovative shape and variety of colours. This is made possible by the great potential of LED technology, which allows the creation of small vibration-free sources of light offering new extraordinary possibilities to the design world.

Alessi’s challenge was to design light bulbs. A group of young designers, Giovanni Alessi Anghini, Gabriele Chiave and Frederic Gooris, created the frames and the lighting system of the “AlessiLux” collection expressing their own personal talents.
Alessi entrusted the production and distribution of the light bulb to the technical and manufacturing skills of Foreverlamp.
