We completed our last day of setup in preparation for the fist day of the show today! Using reinforced white textile softblocks (part of molo’s system of flexible honeycombed paper and textile building blocks) it is possible to create evocative, layered structures lit from within using daylight white LEDs. molo’s exhibit at Maison & Objet features two contrasting “rooms” – one made of organic, earthy brown kraft paper softblocks and another mysterious, illuminated volume made of white textile softblocks.

“Where can all the evidence of dangerous liaisons be stashed? Well, in the pocket of course, and what a fabulous pocket it is. The monolith business meaning table can elegantly unhook and open up like a true pulp-fiction novel, letting out a fan construction of pleated textile. This is where you can keep all your bits and bobs and paperwork of exceptional importance like bills and, well, dirty words hidden under the harmlessly-looking surface.”

“The prêt-à-porter got all emotional about conventional and convenient storage methods, causing constant clashes and other messy encounters among them. After all, they were not made to be thrown into darkness. For people that merely yawn in the presence of a walk-in closet, a wardrobe cabinet on brass wheels–with a paper fan that plays the role of the drawers–provides an interesting piece of fashion advice. Its capacity shrinks and expands with the number of little black dresses or trench coats inside, but it is always stylishly belted with a plush silk band.”

The Kettal Maia collection designed by Patricia Urquiola has a natural lightness and elegance. The collection is hand-braided design with flower shapes that create a unique shadow. Structure is painted with polyester powder using the electrostatic technique. Resistant to outdoor conditions.

Charging Tap designed by Qi Weijia is a hub that charges any device. Just plug it in, turn the tap, and connect it to any smartphone, tablet or gadget that allows USB charging and your device will be charged a lot faster than by using a computer. It is not yet available in stores, we hope it will soon be marketed.

The ‘womb’ shape inspires very different feelings in different people; to me it is a warm, cosy space, for contemplation and rest. There are now 21 cities with populations larger than ten million, and it is predicted that there will be many more in the future. Soaring property prices and lack of available space are causing more and more people to seek alternatives to owning their own home in the city, for example sharing your room with your partner, brother or friend. It is essential to continue to develop new ways of allowing people to comfortably co-exist in these increasingly densely populated environments. By creating an enclosed space ‘Hush’ provides a personal retreat, an escape into a dark, quiet, natural space, or state of mind. Hush can also be transformed to provide more traditional open seating.

Alessi is  breaking the mold with their AlessiLux bulb collection designed by Giovanni Alessi Anghini, Gabriele Chiave and Frederic Goor is and manufactured by Foreverlamp.

The light bulb becomes an object of design, with its own personality and a right to be a protagonist of the scene regardless of its frame through a new, innovative shape and variety of colours. This is made possible by the great potential of LED technology, which allows the creation of small vibration-free sources of light offering new extraordinary possibilities to the design world.

Alessi’s challenge was to design light bulbs. A group of young designers, Giovanni Alessi Anghini, Gabriele Chiave and Frederic Gooris, created the frames and the lighting system of the “AlessiLux” collection expressing their own personal talents.
Alessi entrusted the production and distribution of the light bulb to the technical and manufacturing skills of Foreverlamp.

The “evolution of ideas”, is the new collection by KME. The collection will be presented for the first time to the public during the Salone del Mobile, with “Copper view” by Ferruccio Laviani.

The natural beauty of copper with its seductive hues from red to gold, from green to bronze, and the endless possibilities of utilization of such a ductile material are the strengths of KME Design – An exhibition in which it will be possible to admire, discover, touch and be inspired by KME copper, the new star in interior decoration.
