Tuba By Mathmos

mathmos tuba light.JPG

The Tuba by Mathmos creates the illusion of not really knowing whether the central space has depth or not. What looks like a solid illuminated disc in the centre is actually an open space, a void that is brightly illuminated. Mathmos Tuba actually senses your hand entering this void and changes the color or the current function. Alternatively, the Mathmos Tuba can be set to react to music, cycling through a color changing sequence along with the “beat” or your favorite music.

Balloon Lamp By Kouichi Okamoto

balloon_lamps.jpg

Kouichi Okamoto‘s first name, Kou, means “light” in Japanese, so it’s perhaps natural that this young designer became so attracted to it. His passion for innovative light design certainly shines in the products he has created. He looked into the past and took a hint from the Japanese lamp called the chochin. The lamp is made with a rubber ballon and LED. It’s an incandescent light because you can’t swich it off and it has a shelf life of 100 hours.

Titania Luceplan

1063518[1].jpg

Designed by Paolo Rizzatto and Alberto Media, Titania is a striking, and truly unique light.  Five pairs of polycarbonate interchangeable filters determine the varying colours of its lamellar body. In fact Titania can be coloured as desired, by a simple movement of the hand to slot the different filters in and out and to give the lamp a “dematerialized” colour from.

Glo Chandelier

glo chandelier.jpg

Glo-Chandelier, a trompe l’oeil chandelier, is a perfect conversation piece that adds style and elegance to any interior. A teeny thin strip of light rests behind a double-sided canvas that has undergone dye-sublimation printing, creating the illusion of a chandelier on a two-dimensional surface that hangs on your wall.

Bocci By Omer Arbel

omer_arbel_bocci_light_2.jpg

Omer Arbel is a young designer who created a cast glass pendant lamp design called Bocci. Since then, a whole company has formed around the product to manufacture it. The No.14 pendant series are a family of low voltage lighting products, which are articulated seamed cast glass spheres with frosted cylindrical void into which a halogen light bulb is inserted. These pendants are designed to be clustered in groups – the effect being of many tiny candles encased in floating spheres of water.

The Groovetube

groovetube.jpg

If there’s nothing interesting to watch on television, you can turn it into an amazing disco light show. The Groovetube is simply a translucent plastic box that suction cups to the screen of your television. It has a grid of dividers inside it that diffuse the colors from your T.V. producing an amazing colorful abstraction of anything you watch. It’s probably the best thing to happen to television since the remote.

Lumen Tree by Adam Frank

lumen copy.jpg

The Lumen Tree by Adam Frank is an oil lamp which projects the shadow of a metal tree on the wall. As the flame flickers, the shadow moves around organically. The tree is made of stainless steel and polyethylene. It’ s a bit like having a virtual Christmas tree in your room. It’s ok for us as long as the X-mas gifts are for real.
