The pods would be continuously rearranged by robotic arms (powered by the micro-algae produced) to ensure the optimum growing conditions for alage in each pod. The pods could also house research projects.

Anglesea Beach House by Andrew Maynard Architects

Anglesea_Beach_House_Andrew_Maynard1

For Andrew Maynard Architects, a holiday home in Anglesea VIC, the clients’ requirement was simple: more space for their growing and aging family. The design response to the home was a series of “finely-crafted multi-functional timber boxes” nestled around the existing house.

A new trafficable roof extends the top floor living spaces out into the treetops in an attempt to connect the house with the site. Below the roof, the wood continues downward to create a deck for the first level. Parts of the structure are carved out creating “a multi-dimensioned element” that provides shelter as well as habitable areas for the children to play.

Museum Brandhorst by Sauerbruch Hutton Architects

For one of the most extensive and important collections of modern art – the Brandhorst Collection, which is part of the distinctively organized Udo and Anette Brandhorst Foundation the Bavarian state government has commissioned the construction of a museum in Munich. On an area adjacent to the Pinakothek der Moderne, the winners of the contest in December 2002, Sauerbruch Hutton Architects, will be erecting a three-story, well-defined structure containing approximately 3200 square meters of exhibition space that will open to the north side of Munich’s museum complex.

With its lightness, inner logic and natural elegance, the design corresponds to the profile of the collection, which combines private passion with high museological standards.
The spatial concept of the architecture, which will take daylight closely into account, was developed in close cooperation with the architects. This will guarantee an optimal presentation of the art works.

The original house was in no fit state for yet another refurbishment, having been subjected to two decades of extensions and alterations to accommodate a growing family.
The geometry of the building is based on the footprint of the house that previously was located on the site, originally built in 1984 and with many extensions and modifications since then.

A new structure redesigned by Jurgen Mayer H. was demanded, one that occupied the floorplan of the old. Yet between ground and first floor, the plan was tilted and shifted, a dynamic rotation that has been expressed in the fluid treatment of the external walls.
