‘Sausage & Bubble Gum’ Lamp by Katja Pettersson
Katja Pettersson’s latest designs, the Sausage and the Bubble Gum Lamp were featured in the ‘’Glass Elephant’’ exhibition, Stockholm Design Week’s signature exhibition which ran from 5-9 February. The exhibition explores the properties of glass as a material and muse, and tells a story about the meeting of contrasts.
The Sausage and the Bubble Gum Lamp are based on basic assumptions we all have. ‘’Social agreements and information that we take in by our senses. But can you sense a taste by seeing a form?’’ Katja asked herself.

‘Birdwatch Cabinet Girl’ by Studio Makkink & Bey
Until the 21st of April you’ll find the ”Birdwatch Cabinet Girl” by Studio Makkink & Bey at the ”Isn’t it romantic?” exhibition, which takes place at MAKK in Köln. The cabinet was created in 2007 and represents a 7 year old girl’s sleep maisonette to enhance her birdwatching research capabilities. The exhibition at the MAKK sets out to explore ”Romanticism” by offsetting classical and today’s conceptual works. It also addresses the current understanding of romanticism and explores the new desire for romanticism.

Richard Woods & Sebastian Wrong have applied woodblock and hand printed patterns to four multicoloured chairs that are showcase at VIVID Galerie .
‘These ‘logos of reality’ are created using traditional woodblock techniques and then applied to walls as a second skin covering interior floors, walls and recently an entire residential building in upstate New York. In these instances, Woods’s art expresses an extreme version of Englishness by taking over a space and saturating it with iconography. During Stockholm Furniture Fair 2013 Claesson Koivisto Rune will be presenting their new pendant lamp for Wästberg.
A pendant lamp is a very old concept. While Wästberg is a very forward thinking, high technological lighting manufacturer. So when designing a new pendant lamp for Wästberg you want to bridge past with present.
First, the w131 is small. Surprisingly small. Equipped with reflector halogen it gives good light. So the lamp is extremely versatile as to where to use.
Second, it is tactile and friendly. Sand-cast recycled aluminium is both beautiful and environmentally sound. Any imperfections of the metal are with purpose. The textile cord adds softness. We will use this lamp both at home and for contract.

‘Face,’ Coat Hooks by Claesson Koivisto
During Stockholm Furniture Fair 2013 Claesson Koivisto Rune will be showing their new coat hooks (or fixed door knobs) for swedish producer of fine metal objects Skultuna.
Face is a series of three coat hooks. They are cast in solid bras and fine polished to create a mirror like surface. The main feature – beside the mass and presence of the brass – is the irregular shaped faces of the three slightly different units.
