Tord Boontje was named designer of the year by the Design Museum and Elle Decoration UK. He explores the juxtaposition between old and new, as well as naturalism and technology, with these fantastical lights. Boontjes applies advanced laser cutting technologies to unexpected materials to create cascading floral patterns that allow you to bring nature into your home.

design.05 Miami
design.05 Miami made its debut last Thursday and the show is closing its doors today. It was a good opportunity to discover great new art and design, to meet nice people and to party a lot. The design.05 Miami Designer of the Year award went to Zaha Hadid. The amazing furnitures were surrounded by a breathtaking, four story installation she made specially for the show (see photo above). design.05 Miami succeeded in making more than a furniture show – they brought together the best designers, collectors, connoisseurs and architects from around the world.
